Food Aid

In today's world, access to food is becoming increasingly difficult. The problem of access to basic food brings many other problems with it.

You can learn about our food aid efforts by watching the video.

Consequences of the Problem of Access to Basic Food

If we were to list these issues:

  • inadequate and unbalanced nutrition,
  • health problems,
  • low immunity,
  • low life expectancy,
  • vision problems,
  • high prevalence of chronic diseases,
  • skin problems,
  • difficulty in achieving sustainable growth at the national level,
  • food entering the black market and rising costs,
  • limited access due to rising costs,
  • children being born with genetic disorders,
  • the early death of babies who are malnourished during pregnancy,
  • and food crises.

In countries with problems accessing basic food, food aid contributes to solving this problem. Nutrition is an even more important concept for children in their growth phase. Therefore, food aid provided for child development will help prevent vitamin and health problems that may occur in the future.

Who Receives Food Aid?

Global warming is triggering food problems in many countries. Climate crises and large fires are negatively affecting fertile soils.

Unclean water causes insufficient soil nutrition. Consequently, soil fertility declines. In this situation, where production continuity is negatively affected, lower yields are achieved.

In regions where water is insufficient and unclean, and fertile land is scarce, food problems arise. In areas without water purification devices or filtration technology, soil fertility declines. In this situation, where production quantities are also negatively affected, access to food becomes even more difficult.

Each country's method of dealing with problems differs. Countries with advanced technology and greater financial resources have greater problem-solving capabilities. The solutions of countries in the opposite situation are seen to be insufficient to solve the general problem. Due to the inadequacy of agriculture and irrigation carried out with traditional methods, access to food in underdeveloped countries is much more limited. For this reason, food aid is provided to such countries and regions.

Generally speaking, food aid is delivered to countries, provinces, districts, and neighborhoods with low production efficiency and weak economies.

Another answer to the question of who receives food aid is as follows:

  • Individuals with an income level below the average,
  • to family members in need of assistance,
  • homeless and unemployed individuals,
  • disabled and elderly individuals,
  • the sick and their caregivers,
  • those living in rented accommodation and those with limited income.

Food Aid Costs

Food aid is one of the most preferred types of aid by philanthropists. Food aid costs vary depending on many factors.

Advantages of Food Aid

Food aid offers significant advantages in terms of cost and the number of people it can reach. This assistance ensures that every household receives quality and healthy food.

  • Since food is a basic necessity, it is not considered a wasteful purchase and is used immediately.
  • Food items are more practical than clothing, which is specific to an individual, as they are suitable for everyone's use.
  • Food assistance also ensures that more people are reached.
  • Food, being a concept consumed collectively due to its shared usage, offers significant convenience in this regard.
