El-Kerîm (c.c): Bringing Goodness to Remote Villages in Tanzania

As the Goodness Pioneers Association, we are delighted to have completed our El-Kerîm (c.c) project, our eighth shared water well in a village near the city of Kibiti in Tanzania. Located 9,000 km away from our country, 5 hours from Dar es Salaam, and 2 hours from Kibiti, the 185 residents of this village now have access to clean water.

Project Details

This meaningful project was implemented with the support of our donors to change the lives of a community facing serious difficulties in accessing clean water. Here are the project details:

  • Number of Donors: The project was completed with the support of 72 donors.
  • Endowment: This water well was built as an endowment that will continue to earn rewards for the donors.
  • Village Population: 185 people.
  • Nearest Water Source: Previously, villagers had to walk 2.5 km to access clean water.
  • Distance to the Road: It takes a 30-minute walk to reach the nearest road from the village.
  • Local Language Sign: The sign reads: "This water well was built by Turks. It is a gift to you, free of charge, and everyone can use it."

Why is this project important?

This village near Kibiti faced serious difficulties in accessing clean water. The distance to water sources was a major burden, especially for women and children. The El-Kerîm (c.c) Water Well was implemented as a solution to this problem:

  1. Access to Clean Water: The villagers can now access clean and reliable water without having to walk long distances.
  2. Health and Hygiene: Clean water contributes to the prevention of waterborne diseases.
  3. Education and Time Savings: Children can now spend more time on their education instead of carrying water.
  4. Social Solidarity: This project builds a bridge of friendship between Turkish donors and the Tanzanian people.

The Excitement of the Opening

The water well opening took place with the participation of the village community. Opened with prayers, the El-Kerîm (c.c) Water Well became not only a water source but also a symbol of hope and solidarity. The local community's gratitude was conveyed to our donors who supported this project.
